Common Movers Certification

An in house program we run ourselves, and we publish the curriculum so you can evaluate the standard instead of taking a word for it. There is no outside credentialing body for this, which is exactly why the program carries our name and the modules are printed below.

MODULE 01

Load securement and vehicle loading

Weight distribution, strap and ratchet technique, blanket and shrink wrap standards, dolly and skate selection, securing irregular loads.

MODULE 02

Lift and carry technique

Two and four person coordination, stair technique, tight turns and doorway navigation, low ceiling clearance, long carry management.

MODULE 03

Property protection

Floor runners, door jamb protectors, corner guards, railing protection, threshold plates. What gets protected before anything is lifted.

MODULE 04

Disassembly and reassembly

Bed frames, sectionals, table leaves and pedestals, wall units, fitness equipment, appliance disconnection and reconnection limits.

MODULE 05

Specialty and heavy handling

Appliances, safes, pool tables, spas, glass and stone tops, artwork, recreational equipment, gym racks.

MODULE 06

Condition documentation

Photo protocol before the first lift, what gets documented, how existing damage is recorded and communicated, what triggers a stop and call.

MODULE 07

Customer interaction

Arrival walkthrough, room of choice placement, assembly sign off, final walkthrough, how to escalate.

MODULE 08

Safety

PPE, injury prevention, hazard identification, and which jobs get refused.

The program

what common movers certified means

Is this an outside certification?

No, and we never imply otherwise. It is our own program with a published curriculum, which is why it is always written as Common Movers Certified rather than as the bare word. An outside body would be a different claim and we do not make it.

What is actually in it?

Eight modules covering load securement, lift and carry technique, property protection, specialty and heavy handling, condition documentation, customer conduct, access and route planning, and close out. The curriculum is on this page rather than described in the abstract.

How is it assessed?

A written assessment plus supervised jobs before anyone works a job alone. A training file is kept per person, which is the part that makes the claim checkable rather than decorative.

Does everyone on my job have it?

Yes. Nobody runs a job without finishing the program. Crews on specialty work have also completed the heavy handling and property protection modules specifically.
